Liquid Fill Hard Gelatin Capsules
Drug in Capsule
Capsules remain the most convenient pharmaceutical form. Gelatin and HPMC capsules are available. It may be appropriate for early clinical or preclinical studies to use drug-in-capsule formulations to conserve budget before starting any formulation work. R5 can provide these products carefully filled to tight tolerances.
Capsule formulations using either dry mixed or granulated contents can be filled in sizes 00 to 4 and from extremely small batches to a hundred thousand
Liquid Fill Hard Shell capsules are useful for a variety of situations including stabilising APIs that easily oxidise, or those compounds that are highly potent. Liquid fill in hard shell is an ideal means of reducing exposure and reducing the cost of manufacture of highly potent oral products. Batch sizes up to 50kg and several hundred thousand capsules can be made.
We can examine, powder fill, liquid fill, granular fill, or bead fill into either gelatin or HPMC capsules.

Liquid Fill into Hard Gelatin CapsulesThis technology is an alternative to softgels and provides an oxygen impermeable shell. This dosage form is particularly useful for highly potent APIs. |

Coated CapsulesIt is perfectly possible to coat capsules using tablet pans without modification. This dosage form provides a simple (less expensive) alternative to early stage coated tablets. |

Analytical ChemistryAnalytical Chemistry is at the heart of any development project. We create the analytical methods for use by QC to release and assess products and stability indicating methods to enable us to conduct ICH Stability Tests to justify the shelf lives of the products we develop. |
